It seems too many espouse a desire to print what doesn't belong elsewhere, but when a glut of journals print what doesn't belong elsewhere, the mission loses meaning. I just want to see the best stories possible, across genres and styles.Tim Dickshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17108326838218032812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67881661576743990.post-2032092079851461912010-11-03T16:30:52.181-05:002010-11-03T16:30:52.181-05:00As someone who doesn't read many literary jour...As someone who doesn't read many literary journals, do you have any stories you could link/refer to that you feel exemplify this aesthetic? Most of what you say rings true in a vague way, but I guess I didn't realize so much indie/experimental work centers around violence and destruction. <br /><br />And I think you're right about long work. Recently I've found that, if I'm interested in the piece, I have no problem reading very very long stuff online, like 100+pp. What I find most irritating though is the sectioning of a, say, 5K-word piece into 20 different 250-word pages. Scrolling is not so bad, and I find a plain, nicely formatted long document much less annoying to read.
